This page is a guide to the licensing models used by SYMBOT LTD. It does not replace the licence distributed with software or a written agreement.

What controls

For open-source software, the LICENSE file in the relevant repository controls. For proprietary software or services, the signed agreement, order form or evaluation notice controls. If this page conflicts with one of those documents, that document takes priority.

1. Open-source projects

The following is a navigation aid. Confirm the exact licence, notices and version in the repository you use.

ProjectPublished licence
symApache License 2.0
sym-mesh-channelApache License 2.0
sym-swiftApache License 2.0
sym-relayApache License 2.0
Mesh Memory Protocol specificationCC BY 4.0
marketplaceNo public licence declared; all rights reserved

Apache-licensed projects permit broad use, modification and distribution subject to the Apache License 2.0 conditions, including preservation of required notices. No trademark rights are granted.

2. Specifications and research materials

The Mesh Memory Protocol specification is published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) where stated on the material. The licence applies to the licensed expression—not to facts, abstract ideas or independently created implementations.

See IP & attribution for practical attribution guidance. The licence notice supplied with the material remains authoritative.

3. xMesh licensing and pricing

xMesh is proprietary. Its source code, binaries, xMesh Station, services and non-public materials are proprietary to SYMBOT LTD or its licensors unless a written agreement expressly says otherwise. The presence of open-source components does not make the proprietary xMesh layer open source.

OfferCommercial basisWhat it covers
xMesh Developer RuntimeFreeLocal development, evaluation and non-production use of the runtime API
Team MeshOne fixed annual licence per production team rootUnlimited human users and agents inside that team, including xMesh Station
Enterprise FederationEnterprise agreementMultiple production team roots, purchased individually or in bundles, plus federation, support and SLA terms

xMesh does not price, infer or meter employee headcount, active users, IP addresses, sessions, devices, installations, agents, generated minds, service identities, messages, tokens, storage or other usage. Human identities may still appear in a roster for authentication, authorization, audit and revocation; they are not a billing meter.

Runtime capability and Station

Payment does not unlock a different xMesh runtime API or raise a usage limit. A Team Mesh licence grants the right to use that runtime in commercial production for one team root. Paid teams also receive xMesh Station, a separate operational cockpit for running and governing the production mesh.

A production licence identifies the organization and authorized team root and may be verified locally with a signed licence. Verification does not require usage telemetry or an activation call to SYMBOT LTD. A licence copied to a different team identity may be refused. Contractual use rights govern deliberate organizational compliance; perfect enforcement is neither possible nor desirable for customer-controlled offline software.

For the Developer Runtime, SYMBOT LTD grants a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable right to use the distributed software internally for local development, evaluation and non-production purposes, subject to the licence supplied with that software.

A Developer Runtime or evaluation right does not permit you to:

  • use xMesh in commercial production without a Team Mesh or enterprise licence;
  • copy it except as reasonably required to install and use it for the permitted purpose, or publish, redistribute, sell, sublicense or make it available;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except to the extent applicable law does not permit that restriction;
  • remove ownership, copyright or other notices; or
  • use it beyond the permitted development, evaluation or non-production purpose.

A Team Mesh licence, enterprise agreement or order form grants the stated production rights and replaces the Developer Runtime or evaluation grant for its subject matter.

4. Ownership and feedback

SYMBOT LTD and its licensors retain all rights not expressly granted. Nothing here transfers ownership of software, specifications, marks or confidential know-how.

If you choose to send feedback without a separate confidentiality or feedback agreement, you grant SYMBOT LTD a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free right to use and incorporate that feedback without obligation to you. Do not send confidential information through a public issue.

5. Developer and evaluation termination

A time-limited evaluation ends automatically when its stated period expires. Developer Runtime and evaluation rights may end earlier if you breach their conditions or if reasonably necessary to protect the software, our systems or third-party rights. On termination, stop using and delete proprietary materials, subject to any legal retention obligation.

6. Developer and evaluation warranty and liability

The Developer Runtime and proprietary evaluation material are supplied to business users for development or assessment, as available and without warranties beyond those that cannot lawfully be excluded. They are not licensed for production, safety-critical or mission-critical use.

Nothing excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Subject to that, SYMBOT LTD is not liable under an evaluation for loss of profit, revenue, business, anticipated savings, goodwill or data, or indirect or consequential loss. To the fullest extent permitted by law, SYMBOT LTD's aggregate liability arising from an evaluation is limited to the greater of £100 and the fees paid specifically for that evaluation during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Any production or enterprise liability terms must be agreed in writing.

7. Products and services

Consumer applications are governed by their product-specific terms. Consulting, integration, support, hosted services and production xMesh deployments require a written commercial agreement.

8. Governing law

These evaluation conditions are governed by Scots law and the Scottish courts have exclusive jurisdiction. They are intended for business evaluation only. If mandatory law gives a user rights that cannot be excluded, those rights remain unaffected.
